If you're considering having work done on your property, it's important to know a when a QBCC Contract is required. This is protection for both yourself as the Homeowner & the contractor.

when is a contract needed?

Any 'building work' contracted to a QBCC licensed contractor that is valued at $3,300 or over requires a contract.

WHO provideS THE CONTRACT?

It is the contractors responsibility to draw up the contract & provide all relevant information to the homeowner. 

WHEN DO I SIGN?

Once you have received a finalised quote & the work is agreed upon, a contract should be produced & signed by both parties. A copy of the contract should be provided to the Homeowner within 5 Business Days.

WHEN DO I PAY?

Upon signing the contract your initial deposit is payable. All other stage or final payments, you must receive a "Progress Claim" Form from the contractor. You have 5 business days from the dated form to deposit cleared funds in the contractors account.
